WASH DAY

Socks are probably my favorite accessory. I remember as a kid my family would make fun of me for wearing them all the time but particularly when I would wear them during the summer and to bed. It was mainly for comfort I guess, they felt good! Fast forward to adulthood and my love for socks never wavered lol. When it comes to inspiration I look to my childhood often. Operating from a place of nostalgia makes the visual stories I tell not only authentic but relatable.

This was my second time working with Stance Socks and the idea of a laundromat shoot came to mind for a few reasons. The first reason being the #1 item often lost in the wash are socks. I’ve lost my fair share of socks during wash day and I’m sure you guys can relate. The second reason has more to do with the experiences of living in an urban environment. In most NYC apartments in-unit washer & dryers are not included. You might have a few machines in your building, which in my experience are either always in use or barely operating so trips to the laundromat are needed. Did I mention that doing laundry is my least favorite chore? Having to schedule an entire day to do laundry is a part of adulting I want out of. I know some people drop their laundry off to be done by someone else but I don’t think I could ever pay someone to do it. The idea of someone else handling my “dirty laundry” sounds like a lesson in ownership & accountability lol

Anyway back to this shoot. It was so much fun. I really enjoy working with brands that allow me to create without restrictions. Needless to say, Sam & I really got in our bag and surprisingly at 1 pm when we decided to shoot it was pretty much empty so we rarely had to stop for patrons actually doing their laundry.
